BEYOND TIME AND WAR: A LOVE LEFT UNFINISHED (Chapter: 3)

 

                                              TRANSFER

Y/N: [Knocks on the door and steps inside] "You called for me, sir?"

Senior Director: [Leaning back in his chair] "Doctor Y/N, I'll get straight to the point. You have two choices—either resign or accept the transfer to the captains' quarters along with the other female doctors."

Y/N: [Frowning] "Resign? Just because of a transfer?"

Senior Director: "This isn’t up for debate. You serve where you’re needed."

Y/N: [Taking a deep breath] "And what about the children I’ve been treating? Who will take care of them?"

Senior Director: "They will be taken care of_"

Y/N: [Steps closer, voice firm] "By whom? Will they get the same treatment as other VIP Children? Or will they just become another case file?"

Senior Director: [Sighs] "You’re overstepping, Doctor Y/N."

Y/N: "No, I’m doing my job—fighting for my patients. I won’t accept this transfer unless I get a guarantee that those children will be treated properly."

Senior Director: [Pauses, thinking, then sighs] "I’ll see what can be done."

Y/N: [Nods slightly, then turns and walks out of the office]

As you stepped into the hallway, your heart pounded. You have won—for now. But why does it feel so empty?

You clenched your fist. The fight wasn’t over.

You aren't just a doctor. You are their protector. And no transfer would change that.

Meanwhile,

The three soldiers lay on the ground, exhausted from training, looking up at the night sky.

Jimin: [Stretching his arms lazily] "Man, the female doctors are arriving in two days… Maybe I’ll get lucky with one."

Taehyung and Jungkook kick him at the same time.

Jungkook: "Is that all you think about, idiot?"

A voice from their squad calls out.

Soldier: "Hey, everyone knows the female doctors are coming! And guess what? A civilian doctor is coming too."

A brief silence follows.

Captain: [Furrows his brows] "A civilian doctor? How is she supposed to survive in a place like this?"

Soldier: "No idea! We’ll find out soon enough."

Jimin: [Grinning] "If any of them are single, I’m definitely making a move."

Everyone laughs, but the Captain stays quiet, lost in thought.

A civilian doctor…

Did she even know what she was getting into? Could she handle the harsh reality of war?

Jimin: [Nudging the Captain’s arm] "I feel like we’re about to witness a real-life romance drama."

Jimin: [Turning to Taehyung, smirking] "By the way, when are you introducing us to your girlfriend? She’s basically our sister-in-law now, right?"

Jungkook: "Yeah, when are we meeting her?"

Taehyung: [Blushing slightly] "Our parents are visiting the day after tomorrow… I’ll bring her then."

Jungkook: "And don’t forget to get me a banana milkshake!🤣

Author pov: jk aaur uska banana milkshake 🤣🤣

Jimin: [Scoffs] "Look at this guy—big, scary soldier outside, but deep down, all he wants is a banana milkshake."

Everyone bursts into laughter. Jungkook playfully kicks Jimin’s boot. Moments later, they get up, brushing the dust off their uniforms. Their relaxed moment is over. Soldier mode is back on.

But as they walk away, the Captain can’t shake off one thought—this civilian doctor.

Could she really belong in their world?

Meanwhile

You walked into the children's room, and the moment you saw their bright smiles, your heart ached. How could you leave them?

Little Girl: [Tugging your hand] "You're really kind, you know? We all love you."

She held up a painting—a picture of yours surrounded by all of them. Your chest tightens as you hold back your tears.

You kneel down by forcing a smile "Promise me you'll always be good. Take your medicine, eat well, and stay strong, okay?"

One by one, they nodded, their tiny hands curling into pinky promises.

Little Boy: [Frowning] "Why are you crying? You always smile. But… even when you cry, you look pretty, so don’t cry, okay?"

You let out a shaky laugh, ruffling his hair.

Y/N: "I’ll come back. And when I do, I want to see you all stronger."

You gave them one last glance before walking away, your heart heavier than ever...

Reaching home, You stepped inside and saw your father reading the newspaper, ignoring your presence entirely. Before you could speak, your mother’s cold voice cut through the silence.

Mother: [Arms crossed] "Leave."

Y/N: [Stiffening] "What?"

Mother: "Your brother is coming back. We don’t want you here."

You clenched your fist. Your father doesn't even look up. Not even when you are being thrown out of your own home.

Y/N: [Laughs bitterly] "One more night. That’s all. After that, you’ll never see me again."

You turned to leave but stopped at the door.

Y/N: [Voice cold] "And don’t bother coming when I die. I won’t be your burden anymore."

You took a deep breath before adding one last thing.

Y/N: "I’ll make sure to change my surname before I die. I wouldn’t want the world to know I was ever the daughter of Mr. Martin."

Without waiting for a response, you walked away.

That night, You stand by your window, staring at the moon.

Y/N: [Whispering] "Good night, Simon."

A faint smile appeared through your tears. Tomorrow, everything will change.

Meanwhile our captain,

The captain lay back on the ground during his short break, hands tucked behind his head, gazing at the sky. His mind wandered.

Captain: [Muttering] "A civilian doctor...hmm?"

He smirked slightly, eyes locked onto the moon.

Captain: "I hope you’ll stay safe here, Miss Unknown."

With that, he pushed himself off the ground, exhaling sharply before heading back to duty. But his thoughts remained on the civilian doctor....!!
