BEYOND TIME AND WAR: A LOVE LEFT UNFINISHED (Chapter -7)

 

You were quietly lost in the clouds when someone nudged you...

YN (confused): Wait—me? What’s going on??

They all laugh softly... Then someone says,

“Doctor, we’re thinking of playing a fun game"

Captain (smirking): Alright, let’s begin... We’re going to play something a little different from Truth and Dare...

Another soldier chimes in,

“Yeah! Since we can’t spin a bottle in a chopper, we’ll just pick someone directly.”

Captain (explaining): Each person will be picked by someone, and they’ll have to describe what kind of soulmate they want??

Everyone: Sounds good...!! Yeah....!!!

Someone adds teasingly,

“Let’s start with the ladies… because we’re all gentlemen here, right?”

Everyone laughs again...

Someone points to You...“Dr. YN goes first!”

You startled for a moment,“Wait, me? Why me???"

Someone teases,

“Why? Aren’t you one of the ladies?”

Everyone chuckles. Captain Jeon glares at them — protective without a word — and suddenly, the whole group quiets down....

You smiled nervously and spoke...

“Okay… fine... I’ll go first. I’ll share what kind of soulmate I want…

As you begin speaking, Captain Jeon is no longer hearing the chatter around him. It all fades. His world focuses only on you.

The way your eyes move to the side as you think…

The way you slightly bite your lip before speaking…

The way you tuck your hair behind your ear…

His heart races like never before. For some reason, his heartbeat felt so fast,

As if it wanted to leave his chest and connect with yours.

And the moment you started speaking,

He was entirely focused on you.

YN: “Umm… I don’t really have a ‘dream man.’ But I would want someone who accepts me as I am, in my own way... And someone who loves me without needing a reason... Because when a relationship starts with a reason, It ends when that reason fades.”I want something deeper… more raw. I just want… honest love… I want someone I can talk to endlessly… so much that he becomes my habit. And when I finally get used to him being a part of my life… he shouldn’t be the one who leaves. He should be the one who stays… no matter what."

Everyone keeps silent for a moment... Then speaks...

"Whooo... so deep, Dr. YN... Good one. If you ever get someone like this, you will be really lucky."

You give a sad smirk and say,

" Hmm... Maybe..."

Amidst the soft silence, Jimin adds with a gentle smile,

"Why only them? You’re no less, YN. Anyone who ends up with you will be equally lucky."

You smiled at him softly. Meanwhile, Captain Jeon was silently watching every little detail—your smile, your smirk, the sadness in your eyes—like he was trying to read your whole story through your expressions.

But, unknown to everyone, there was one person who had been watching Captain Jeon ever since the game began. Her eyes were fixated on him.

?? (in her thoughts): 

"God, I want him. Everything about him—his voice, the way he stares, the way he carries himself—it’s just perfect... Just my type, CAPTAIN JEON... I’ll make you mine soon." I want to know you more...

She brushes off the thought with a light smile and joins the group again, laughing along, hiding that tiny curiosity blooming inside...

Suddenly, Jimin jumps up—

"Wait, wait, it’s my turn! Let me say mine now—"

Captain Jeon (teasingly):

"Then say it properly, man... Why are you doing ‘mai mai’ like a goat?"

Everyone laughs, and Jimin picks up his boot and mock-throws it at Captain Jeon.

Jimin: Fine! Attention here, people! I’m gonna say something epic now!!

Jimin suddenly gets serious and looks directly at Captain Jeon.

His sudden change in expression makes everyone confused—even Captain himself.

Without saying a word, Jimin bends down on one knee in front of Captain.

Everyone is staring, totally stunned.

Jimin (seriously):

"Captain… we both know how much we mean to each other. Why keep it a secret now? Let’s just accept each other."

Everyone, all at once, shocked:

"Wait… WHAT?! Are you guys… something more than just friends??"

Captain's eyes became wide and he stumbled over his words.

"Ahh—NO! No no no! It’s not what you think!"

Jimin smirks, stands up and suddenly kicks Captain lightly on the leg.

Then he bursts out laughing, clutching his stomach...

Jimin (laughing like crazy):

"Haha! Sorry guys—I was just messing around! You all got so scared, didn’t you?!"

Everyone laughs in relief...

Captain (shaking his head, laughing):

"Yah! You idiot! Of all people, you had to mess with me? Pathetic loser!"

In the middle of all the laughter and playful teasing…

A calm but firm voice echoes inside the chopper.

Pilot (from the front, over the comm):

"Be serious now. We’re approaching the DMZ zone."

Suddenly, the air inside turns heavier.

Smiles fade, eyes become focused.

Everyone quickly straightens up, fixing their gear and sitting alert.

Captain (voice firm but calm):

"Alright team, check your weapons and communication devices. This is not training anymore."

You glance outside through the small window…

The clouds are clearing, revealing the vast stretch of green below—the silence of war territory.
